Know It Alls

There is no such thing as the supernatural. There is only a lag in our understanding of science, physics, and the true nature of perceived reality. Everything can be explained--from ghosts to Bigfoot to UFOs, but I am not certain that we are truly willing to accept what those answers may be. Somehow we picked up the arrogant belief that we know nearly everything there is to know. We are as cocky as we are truly ignorant of the world in which we live. There is so very much we do not know, and won't know, until we decide we aren't above applying science as science was intended. With an unbiased open-mind.

Crime Prevention, Inc.

Our perspective on crime is a lot of what makes crime possible. Keeping things illegal like drugs and prostitution only adds to our problems. Look at the track record of crime during the era of alcohol prohibition. All the gang problems during that time were a direct result of the outlawing of alcohol, which turned the power over to the outlaws. Some things will never change with our species, and seeking a good time with experimentation is a very realistic part of who we are, whether we or not we like to admit it. If we were to legalize prostitution as well as all illegal drugs (thus regulating them), it would cripple, if not destroy, organized crime. The biggest problem with this is that it would bring crime down dramatically because our perspective of what "crime" is would change. If your neighbor is smoking a joint, how does this affect you? If your neighbor is getting it on with a whore, how does this really affect you or your safety? The biggest obstacle with legalizing any of these things is that we have built a massive industry on its prevention. For this reason, for all the law enforcement jobs that would be eliminated, it won't be happening in the near future. Crime is something we'll just have to live with because, after all, the industry of crime prevention needs criminals. The more society is regulated, the more it depends on its own regulations.

Oldest Profession

If someone wants to prostitute their own body, how is it not their right to do so? If we do not even control our own being, then how free are we? It's not a moral issue, because morality should only be a personal issue, not one used to control or manipulate the masses. It's not a health issue, because those choosing to partake in the profession or services of prostitution know what the risks are. If it were legal, it could be regulated for safety--greatly eliminating the risk factor. If it were legal, it would topple some levels of organized crime. On the other hand, legalizing it would also put many cops out of business, so you can count on this happening no time soon.

American Flag

It's your right to burn it. Anyone who says otherwise does not understand its meaning and should not be trusted or respected.

Same Time, Next Year

We, as a society, move forward with such a limited scope on our future. It's like driving without a map, using only your headlights for direction. We fail to look forward and plan, whether it be that night's activities, or the goal for the coming decade. Life can be infinitely better if we realize that every action sets up new variables to be dealt with down the road, and today's decisions affect our entire lives. Some say, live today like it's your last. I say, live today as if you will have to deal with its consequences for the rest of your life. In doing so, you should never have regrets.
